Described as a “sharp, observant joke writer” by TimeOut NY, Jarret Berenstein is a New York based writer, comedian and producer. Since moving to the city in 2001 he has performed and developed comedy in a variety of mediums, focusing at times on either improv, sketch or stand up. As an improviser he has performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, the People’s Improv Theater, and the Magnet Theater where he is currently on one of the oldest and most well regarded house teams, Junior Varsity. As a sketch writer he was awarded a Time Out NY Critics’ Pick and won Best Solo Show at the LA Comedy Festival. His sketches online include the viral sensations “Sex and the City for Dudes,” “WhiteFriend,” “Norn,” and “Sponsor a Comedian.” His monthly current events show (“Current Events”) ran uninterrupted for two years at theaters all over New York City. As a stand up comedian he can be seen regularly at Comic Strip Live, Broadway Comedy Club, and The Creek and The Cave. He’s been featured multiple times on the Fox TV show “Laughs” and was TimeOut’s Joke of the Week three times. He most recently performed at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland OR, the Out of Bounds Comedy Festival in Austin TX, the Young Guns of Comedy Competition, and the NC Comedy Arts Festival.
