Renowned for his raunchy comedy style, Bob Saget may be the last stand-up you’d expect defending today’s “PC Culture” climate. In an interview with Redeye Chicago, Saget made the case that comedians can maintain their ‘edge’ while staying “relevant with what’s appropriate.”
“…You can do the same amount of edge. It doesn’t make a difference. It doesn’t cut your balls off. Freedom of speech isn’t gone. You can have all the freedom of speech you want. But if you want to do a bunch of misogynistic jokes and go back to the time that was 30 years ago, it just doesn’t really track.”
Comedians like Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld have been vocal arguers that “PC Culture” is eroding the art of stand-up comedy. But maybe the craft is just evolving.
